Painting – The progressive crushing of expectations
I bought a paint by numbers set. The picture is supposed to look like the image below when done. At least that is what the cover image on the product was when I bought it.
For your entertainment, I will document the process of my turning that picture into the dollar store version of the above. My disappointment is bound to be immense.
Step 1 – Waiting

Step 2 – Receive package, brace for impact
This product had no reviews or any kind on it, so I am not sure what to expect.
I received the package on Oct 14, 2021.
It was in a small square box, which I was surprised at, considering the product said it was rolled, not folded, to prevent creases. This baby has some serious creases.
Below is a picture that they were kind enough to provide of the final product. Wait a minute. I thought the picture on the cover of the box was supposed to be the final product. I have been had!
As you can see, there is some moderate differences between this smudgy mess, and the cover sheet I thought I was buying. I thought it was going to be a lot more intricate. The water is made up of four or five large sections of colour and looks like a toxic waste spill.
The cover image has clouds in it. This sample has a pink smear? The colours at fist glance seem odd as well. Here is the start of the water. Also please notice the complete lack of creases on the canvas, just as advertised!
Clearly the water in my version is a lot more polluted then the water in the cover image given the level of green we are dealing with here.
