On my mind

Lock Every Door

DISCLAIMER: These are private notes I wrote in my public library app about the book prior to creating this site and tracking and writing about all my reading here. I am pasting those notes into this site to consolidate everything. These notes are rough, unintelligent, and pasted as is (spelling mistakes and all). Enjoy.

Another great read by Riley. Same sort of style as the last one I read by him, does those time jumps to give a glimpse of what went on in the current day. I think I liked the Last Time I lied better, except I liked the ending of this one better. Like that both books actually had a happy ending. Riley had the balls to make a happy ending and not try to be all edgy like Tana French in “in the woods” and just make the ending depressing AF, and literally not one bit of happiness for any of the characters and not even resolving all the stuff. Then all the people who think they are these sophisticated readers call it an “amazing” book that could only be appreciated by someone as advanced as them. It’s like “in the woods” is a $4500 bottle of wine, and Lock every door is a $32 bottle. Both expensive in my mind, the $32 tastes great, leaves me satisfied.. the $4500 prob tastes fine too, but I am left very unsatisfied considering I spent $4500 on it. That’s how I felt after reading like 600 pages and not even getting resolution. Thanks a lot Tana. Why am I reviewing that again on this note? Whatever, point is, this book was great. Oh yea one thought about this book – The main character was kind of an idiot… like she would still have a Kidney if she didn’t go back to the hotel to retrieve her stuff when she knew they were bad. Moron.
