The Dark Forest
The Dark Forest
Author: Cixin Liu
This was a good follow on to the first book in the series (The Three Body Problem). I really liked the first book, with its interesting smattering of philosophy mixed in with physics and hard science fiction. I also loved the moments like where they made the computer with millions of people in the simulation. I think the first book is the stronger book. BUT, the dark forecast had a really cool underlying premise and big reveal at the end, and a cool explanation for why it worked. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who may not have read it yet, but it’s a worthwhile read. I got to the end of the book however, and didn’t really feel any desire to read a third book. It felt like the story had wrapped up enough for me. I also read the brief synopsis of the third book, which further solidified my lack of desire to read it. I also read that the third book is the least liked, which even further reduced my desire to read it.
