Author: Edward Snowden

Good book. I read No Place To Hide by Glenn Greenwald (the reporter Snowden worked with for the leaks) which was a lot more in depth on how everything went down. It was even more technical when describing the list of illegal activities the NSA was taking part of.

Snowdens book is a memoir. We learn about his childhood and how he developed his skills in computing. He told us about his entire career history, starting with the army, moving through the CIA and making his way to the NSA.

He did a great job detailing how disturbing his findings were and how he struggled with what to do about his revelations.

It was cool hearing about how careful he was in contacting the journalists. For example, he drove around in a car with an antenna, stealing peoples wifi, constantly on the move, so that he couldn’t be tracked while he was sending them messages. He was careful not to have any patterns. He stored an SD card with the extracted classified documents in a Rubik’s cube that he had with him.
