Author: Blake Crouch

Similar to Blake Crouch’s “Dark Matter”, I liked the book, but it’s not one that will live in my memory for long, or I’ll think back on as a “great read”. It’s more like watching a B movie, like Sharknado or something.

The premise is not hard to predict based on the title. It’s about genetic engineering, and humans who modify themselves to be superhumans essentially. The antagonist wants to forcefully modify all of humanity through viral contagion, because they believe making humans smarter will give humanity a chance to survive climate change, since they’ll be more rationale, and take more measures to preserve our planet. They say that clearly humans in their current state are not capable of this.

Not super plausible if you ask me, as getting superhuman thinking abilities, and superhuman strength, etc. doesn’t change our nature. Selfish, greedy, self-preserving, etc, which if you ask me, would be the primary root causes of runaway climate change.
