Model of the Voyager

December 30, 2021

I got a model kit from a company called Metal Earth. They give you very thin sheets of metal that you remove and piece together different models. This one was of Nasa’s Voyager spacecraft.

The model was one of the more frustrating ones I have done. Some of the pieces were insanely small. Some pieces come flat, and you have to bend them into a circle. And if you don’t do it just right, the tiny metal inserts that attach it to another piece don’t line up, so you have to bend and fiddle with it until you can finally line it up. Lining the pieces up is a chore in itself as the tabs and holes are so small you can barely see what you are doing, let alone pick up and handle some of the tiny parts. Tweezers are a must have for this project. I did enjoy myself for the most part though and I’m happy with the end product, though it’s not perfect.

Here is an idea how small some of the parts were:

And here is some progress pictures and the finished product.
